About Barbara

Barbara has more than 40 years of wide-ranging experience. Having begun as a director and voice coach, she then joined the voice department at the Royal Shakespeare Company for 6 years. On leaving, she became Associate Director at the Young Vic.

She left the Young Vic to establish a freelance career and has spent the last 24 years coaching high-profile clients and working as a voice and text coach on shows in the West End, alongside her own directing projects. She was Season Associate Director - Voice & Text at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre between 2014 and 2022, leaving to make more time to direct.

She is also a visiting professor at the University of Connecticut and runs workshops in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Iceland.

Barbara works in a highly flexible and creative way to match the individual needs and style of each client.

Her approach is based around ‘kind rigour’. Always positive, while stretching each client to their full potential.

Her breadth of knowledge and practice - not only in voice, text and performance but also as a director and in teaching mindfulness, self compassion, shifting limiting beliefs and practicing energy work - allow her to work holistically with her clients.
